Understanding well potential and reservoir characteristics is critical for making field development and investment decisions. Advances in production measuring technology and production data analysis have allowed well performance to be characterized without testing. However, there remain some critical questions where only a well test can provide the answer.
In its simplest form, a well test involves controlling the conditions of a well and analyzing the data to answer one or more questions about the well and the reservoir.
In this course you will learn to understand why we test, what can be learned from a well test, and how to analyze well test data to characterize well deliverability (or injectivity), average reservoir pressure, permeability, completion effectiveness, damage, interference, reservoir size and other elements utilized in the field development process.
