Brad Hayes is President of Petrel Robertson Consulting Ltd., a geoscience and engineering consulting firm providing professional advice to clients working on CO2 sequestration, helium and lithium exploration, oil and gas development, water resource management, and geothermal energy.
Brad holds a PhD in geology from the University of Alberta, and has 40 years of diverse experience applying subsurface geoscience in resource industries. He worked 15 years with oil and gas operating companies, specializing in exploration of clastic reservoirs and discovering significant gas reserves in the Deep Basin of British Columbia. More recently he has focused on characterization of deep saline aquifers for water disposal, carbon sequestration and lithium exploration. Brad has co-founded three junior helium exploration companies, two of which are now publicly traded.
Brad is an Adjunct Professor in the University of Alberta Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, where he recently led a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the 21st Century Energy Transition. He is also a sessional lecturer in Earth and Environmental Sciences at Mount Royal University. Brad is a prolific media commentator, writing for a variety of technical and business publications as well as engaging actively on social media on energy topics.
