Mr. Eric Michael is the Chief Geochemical Advisor for the Americas at Applied Petroleum Technology (APT), overseeing and supporting technical projects for both APT USA Inc. and APT Canada Ltd. He holds a B.S. in geology (minor in chemistry) from Indiana University and a M.S. in geology (minor in chemistry) from the University of Oklahoma.
Prior to working for APT, Eric spent more than 33 years in the industry, including time at the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Sohio, Mobil and 31 years at Conoco/ConocoPhillips (COP). After joining COP in 1990 Eric performed or managed technical service projects, consulting, teaching and research in exploration and production geochemistry and fluid flow modeling for both conventional and unconventional resources. Throughout his career Eric has worked on virtually every major play and basin around the world.
As a subject matter expert, Eric established best practices for use of time lapse geochemistry in tight reservoir management to optimize well spacing and stacking decisions and implementation and company adoption of using geochemistry for well integrity. He has published 70+ research & technical papers and holds 5 patents focused around the use of geochemistry for unconventional reservoirs and production allocation.
