I am a scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur. My love of discovery led me to do a degree in physics and astronomy, which morphed into an early career in geophysics. I realized that at the heart of every exploration or investigation is data, and that data is mistreated, misunderstood, misleading, and can be damaging in the wrong hands. I don't like to brag, but it turns out I have a unique ability to "listen" to data and detect subtle threads that lead to insights others routinely miss. I have turned this ability (with the help of a very capable, solution-oriented team) into software that can be applied in many settings for the synthesis and deep understanding of data. Did I mention I love what I do?
Running a business on the other hand, now that's a challenge! Just like anything worthwhile however, I learned to consult experts, ask for advice, and sometimes leap into things, failing if necessary to learn a lesson. I have to say, I have a new appreciation for those business majors I scorned in university, who focused on man-made rules, while I was working on discovering the secrets of the universe itself. I now realize everything is connected, and that data is that, sometimes ephemeral, thread.
